Mitochondrial pyruvate carriers; This family includes mitochondrial pyruvate carrier proteins, such as Mpc 1/2 and their homologs. They mediate the uptake of pyruvate into mitochondria. In humans, Mpc1 and Mpc2 associate to form an ~150-kilodalton complex in the inner mitochondrial membrane. MPC1 contains two predicted transmembrane regions. MPC2 contains three predicted transmembrane regions. Several studies have demonstrated MPC involvement in the control of cell fate in cancer and gluconeogenesis in models of type 2 diabetes.

Domain of unknown function (DUF2470); This domain is found in a group of putative heme-iron utilization proteins, such as HugZ. It can also be found in C-terminal of the glutamyl-tRNA reductase-binding (GluTRBP) protein from Arabidopsis. GluTRBP is involved in the regulation of glutamyl-tRNA reductase (GluTR) which is important for the synthesis and distribution of 5-aminolevulinate, a precursor in heme and chlorophyll biosynthesis. GluTRBP is necessary for efficient photosynthetic electron transport in chloroplasts.
