The genome of Candidatus Thiobius zoothamnicola, the thiotrophic ectosymbiont of the colonial giant ciliate Zoothamnium niveum is contributed. This mutualism is a model system to study cooperation, and has convienently short generation times, being the only thiotrophic mutualism that can be cultivated for several generations in flow through acquaria.
