Genome Information for Pseudomonas phage vB_PaeP_p2-10_Or1
To envisage the use of phage therapy for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, it is necessary to explore the genetic diversity of the species and the spectrum of susceptibility to bacteriophages.
More...To envisage the use of phage therapy for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, it is necessary to explore the genetic diversity of the species and the spectrum of susceptibility to bacteriophages. Here a collection of P. aeruginosa strains from cystic fibrosis patients was selected on the basis of their genotype to represent the diversity of the species. Their susceptibility to phages was investigated, allowing the identification of resistant strains. The selected multiphage-resistant strains were used to isolate new bacteriophages from sewage water. Their virulence profile was analysed and they were fully characterized by whole genome sequencing.
