More...2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) and 2,4-dinitrotoluene (2,4-DNT) are nitrated xenobiotic compounds widely produced by civil and military industries. The three compounds have negative effects in human health like headache, skin irritation, hepatic injury and anemia, and TNT has been reported as a possible carcinogenic and mutagenic pollutant. These characteristics have generated a great interest in the bioremediation of these compounds. In this study we isolate two strains able to transform TNT, PETN and 2,4-DNT and mixtures of TNT/PETN and. TNT/2,4-DNT. The whole genome of both strains were sequenced in order to identify genes probably related with the transformation of TNT, 2,4-DNT and PETN.
