Description

The clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) is a cat that inhabite dense forests from the foothills of the Himalayas through mainland Southeast Asia into South China (from Wikipedia entry). This sample is from a male at the Smithsonian National Zoo, in Washington DC, collected and procured the Veterinary Staff and Klaus Koepfli, to generate a high-quality reference for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, lead by Olivier Fedrigo and Erich D. Jarvis, with support from Jarvis for a COVID-19 research project.
