For this report, we have defined the terms as follows:

All other NSAIDs

Non-aspirin, nonselective NSAIDs, or simply nonselective NSAIDs.

Aspirin

Differs from other NSAIDs, because it irreversibly inhibits platelet aggregation; salicylic acid derivatives (aspirin and salsalate) are considered a separate subgroup.

Partially selective NSAIDs

Other drugs shown to have partial in vitro COX-2 selectivity (etodolac, nabumetone, meloxicam).

Selective NSAIDs or COX-2 selective NSAIDs

Drugs in the “coxib” class (celecoxib).
