For this report, we have defined the terms as follows:
- All other NSAIDs
Non-aspirin, nonselective NSAIDs, or simply nonselective NSAIDs.
- Aspirin
Differs from other NSAIDs, because it irreversibly inhibits platelet aggregation; salicylic acid derivatives (aspirin and salsalate) are considered a separate subgroup.
- Partially selective NSAIDs
Other drugs shown to have partial in vitro COX-2 selectivity (etodolac, nabumetone, meloxicam).
- Selective NSAIDs or COX-2 selective NSAIDs
Drugs in the “coxib” class (celecoxib).
