A diverse family of enzymes, which includes prostaglandin G/H synthase, thyroid peroxidase, myeloperoxidase, linoleate diol synthase, lactoperoxidase, peroxinectin, peroxidasin, and others. Despite its name, this family is not restricted to metazoans: members are found in fungi, plants, and bacteria as well.
