cl40641: TraG_N Superfamily (this model, PSSM-Id:424272 is obsolete)
TraG-like protein, N-terminal region
The bacterial sequences found in this family are similar to the N-terminal region of the TraG protein. This is a membrane-spanning protein, with three predicted transmembrane segments and two periplasmic regions. TraG protein is known to be essential for DNA transfer in the process of conjugation, with the N-terminal portion being required for F pilus assembly. The protein is thought to interact with the periplasmic domain of TraN to stabilize mating-cell interactions.
