magnetosome protein MamA
Magnetosomes are special lipid-bound organelles that comprise magnetic mineral crystals in magnetotactic bacteria (MTB). Magnetosomes are important for MTB to search for preferred microaerophilic environment. Proteins of this family typically contain five tetra-trico-peptide repeat (TPR) motifs. Based on structural analyses, MamA forms a large homooligomer through self-recognition to regulate protein-protein interaction in magnetosomes.
