Comparison of metastasis-inclined microenvironment (MIM) and metastasis-averse microenvironment (MAM) HCC patients

(Submitter supplied) To determine the role of the hepatic microenvironment in HCC metastasis, we compared the gene expression profiles of 20 noncancerous surrounding hepatic tissues from two HCC patient groups, those with primary HCC together with venous metastasis which we termed a metastasis-inclined microenvironment (MIM) and those with HCC without detectable metastasis, which we termed a metastasis-averse microenvironment (MAM). more...

Noncancerous hepatic tissues from hepatocellular carcinoma patients with and without venous metastasis

Analysis of noncancerous hepatic tissues surrounding tumors from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with and without venous metastasis. Results provide insight into the role of the hepatic microenvironment in HCC metastasis.

Unique MicroRNA Expression Signature Predicts Survival, Metastases and Recurrence of HCC

(Submitter supplied) In this study we investigated the miRNA expression profile of Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) specimens from radical resection. We developed a unique 20 miRNA signature that could significantly distinguish HCC venous metastasis from metastasis-free HCC. In contrast to HCC staging systems, this signature was capable of predicting survival and recurrence of HCC patients with multinodular or solitary tumors, including those with early-stage disease. more...

Gene Expression Profiles of both tumor and adjacent non-tumor liver Identify Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients at High Risk of Recurrence after Curative Hepatectomy

(Submitter supplied) Progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) often leads to vascular invasion and intrahepatic metastasis, which correlate with recurrence after surgical treatment and poor prognosis. It is crucial to identify patients with a high risk of recurrence and develop more intensified or targeted treatment strategy to improve disease outcome.

Identification of cholangiocarcinoma-like gene expression traits in hepatocellular carcinoma

(Submitter supplied) We performed gene expression profiling of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocarcinoma (CC), and mixed type of combined HCC and CC (CHC). In comparison of the profiles, a novel class of HCC expressing CC-like traits was identified.
