Genome-wide Transcriptional Profiling of Nitrogen-Depleted E. coli Treated with Stapled Peptide Inhibitors of the Sigma-54 Promoters

(Submitter supplied) We report the genome-wide effects of blocking the interaction between the sigma-54 bacterial transcriptional enhancer with its cognate promoter in E. coli under nitrogen-starvation conditions.

Expression of RpoN molecular roadblock in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 in rich media

(Submitter supplied) The bacterial transcription factor RpoN regulates an extensive network of genes whose products are involved in diverse biological functions. We constructed a small peptide termed the RpoN molecular roadblock, which binds to and blocks transcription from RpoN promoters. This RpoN molecular roadblock can be used in any bacterium to obtain information on the RpoN regulon. We expressed the RpoN molecular roadblock in P. more...

D. nodosus WT vs pilR mutant

(Submitter supplied) The aim was to determine the additional genes regulated by PilR in addition to fimA. To determine the additional genes the gene expression profile of a pilR mutant was compared to the wild-type strain. Keywords: genetic modification

Gene repression by sigmaS: sigma competition for binding to RNA polymerase or more?

(Submitter supplied) The alternative subunit of RNA polymerase RpoS/σS controls a global adaptive response allowing many Gram-negative bacteria to survive nutrient deprivation and various stresses and contributes to biofilm formation and virulence of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium. We have addressed an important but poorly understood aspect of σS-dependent control; that of a repressor. The general assumption is that negative regulation of gene expression by σS is mainly a passive phenomenon, due to competition between σS and other sigma factors for binding to a limited amount of core RNA polymerase (RNAP). more...
