A cell transcriptomic profile reveals the molecular mechanisms of adipocytes in mammary gland across development

(Submitter supplied) Studying composition and developmental mechanisms in mammary gland is crucial for healthy growth of the newborn. Here, we constructed the largest transcriptomic dataset of mammary gland cells thus far. The dataset captured 126,829 high-quality nuclei from adipocytes, endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts cells, immune cells, myoepithelial cells and precursor cells at five timepoint of mammary development. more...

Expression Data from Mouse Mammary Gland Adipose Stroma

(Submitter supplied) Adipose stroma in the mouse mammary gland undergoes remodeling throughout the 5 stages of development. These include nulliparous (virgin;never been pregnant), pregnant, lactating, involuting and regressed. We used a microarry to determine the changes in gene expression during gland development.

Normal mammary glands at three developmental stages: adipose stroma

Analysis of adipose stroma from nulliparous, lactating and involuting mammary glands. Pregnancy-associated breast cancers (PABCs) diagnosed during lactation are generally more aggressive with poorer prognosis. Results provide insight into the role of stromal changes in the pathogenesis of PABCs.

mRNA Expression Comparison Between Igfbp7-null and wild type mice at Lactation Day 3

(Submitter supplied) Insulin like growth factor binding protein 7, Igfbp7, is a secreted protein that in addition to modulating insulin and insulin-like growth factor signaling, it acts as a tumor suppressor gene in breast and other cancers. To elucidate the role of Igfbp7 in regulating the proliferation and differentiation of mammary epithelial cells, we examined the growth and differentiation of mammary gland through different stages of its development in Igfbp7-null mice. more...

Brown adipocytes can display a mammary basal myoepithelial cell phenotype in vivo

(Submitter supplied) A comparison of the mRNAs analysis in lactation mammary myoepithelial cells (GFP+/GFP-) and brown adipocytes (GFP+) from Myf5-Cre-ROSAmTmG and Ucp1-iCre-ROSAmTmG mice. Results provide the gene expression signature in the brown origin (UCP1/Myf5-positive) myoepithelial cells in vivo.

Maternal Nurtritional Programming in the Ovine Mammary Gland

(Submitter supplied) Developmental programming is the concept that environmental factors, particularly during foetal life, can alter development, metabolism and physiology of an organism and this can have consequences later in life. There is growing interest in developmental programming in livestock species, particularly effects of maternal pregnancy nutrition, which is easy to manipulate. Recent research, using a sheep model, has shown that milk production in ewe offspring may be susceptible to maternal nutritional programming, such that over nutrition (ad libitum) of the pregnant dam, compared with maintenance nutrition, may impair their first lactation performance and result in the weaning of lighter lambs. more...

Mammary development during pregnancy (controlateral control vs. cleared fat pad) to define transdifferentiation factors

(Submitter supplied) Tissue from cleared mammary fat pad and sham-operated controlateral control was removed before and at 10, 15,17, and 19 days of pregnancy. Cleared vs. controlateral tissue was hybridized in dye-swap design to in-house cDNA microarry platform. This design aims to identify factors signaling from the epithelial part of the mammary gland to the surrounding fat pad to initiate adipo-epithelial transdifferentiation.
