Involved in several processes, including fat cell differentiation; osteoblast differentiation; and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of DNA-templated transcription and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; heart and pericardium; sensory organ; and skin. Orthologous to human GLIS1 (GLIS family zinc finger 1).
