Budding yeast, member of the Saccharomyces sensu stricto group

Lineage: Eukaryota[15558]; Fungi[5219]; Dikarya[4852]; Ascomycota[3866]; Saccharomycotina[1194]; Saccharomycetes[1194]; Saccharomycetales[1193]; Saccharomycetaceae[156]; Saccharomyces[20]; Saccharomyces kudriavzevii[1]
Saccharomyces kudriavzevii, a budding yeast, is a member of the Saccharomyces sensu stricto group. It is closely related to Saccharomyces cerevisiae; these two yeast species are separated by an estimated 10-20 million years of evolution.
The Saccharomyces kudriavzevii genome is estimated at 12 Mb, organized in 16 chromosomes. It shows a high conservation of synteny with the S. cerevisiae genome.
