Design: We extracted RNA using the column-based Qiagen RNeasy Mini extraction kit and stored extracted samples in DEPC treated H20 at -80C until library preparation. To prepare RNA for sequencing, we created cDNA libraries using the New England Biolabs NEBNext Ultra II RNA Library Prep kit. Prepared libraries were sequenced on an Illumina HiSeq 4000 (150bp SE) at the QB3 Vincent J. Coates Genomics Sequencing Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley.
