Here we assess genetic variation among remnant populations of the Australian grasshopper Keyacris scurra. This species has experienced extensive habitat loss in post-European times and was recently listed as endangered throughout Australia. Results of this study increase our understanding of invertebrate population genetics and conservation and suggest varied management strategies of many small habitats will improve the future of Keyacris scurra
