Complete segregation of the inactivated furA gene has not been possible to date. Therefore, comparative transcriptomics of the AGcoaRFurA strain, where furA expression can be silenced and further validation with RT-PCR and EMSA assays of a set of selected genes led to identify novel FurA direct targets involved in different physiological processes.
