The meadow vole (Microtus pennsylvanicus) is a North American vole found in eastern Canada and the United States. Its range extends farther south along the Atlantic coast (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a male individual found in Ithaca, New York, was procured by Lindsay Sailer and David Ramirez, and coordinated by Lauren O'Connell and Jessica Nowicki to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP).
