Genome-wide analysis of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis biopsy samples.

(Submitter supplied) Gene expression patterns of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) colonic specimens were analyzed using whole-genome microarrays. Healthy control samples were included in order to detect gene expression changes associated with CD or UC. CD and UC samples were also compared in order to identify the molecular mechanisms that distinguish both fenotypes of inflammatory bowel disease.

Expression profiling in inflammatory bowel disease

(Submitter supplied) The series was designed to identify new genes involved in the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). This series represents a group of 31 samples, subdivided into 3 groups: 1) Normal controls: 11 samples; 2) patients with Crohn's diseases: 10 samples; 3) patients with ulcerative colitis: 10 samples. Each sample originated from a different patient or normal control, in total n=31 individuals were examined. more...

Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis comparison

Expression profiling of mucosal biopsy samples from sigmoid colons of 10 patients with Crohn disease (CD) and 10 patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). CD and UC are two forms of inflammatory bowel disease. Results provide insight into the pathogenesis of CD and UC.

Changes in colon gene expression assoc. with increased colon inflam. in IL-10-/- mice inoculated with Enterococcus sp.

(Submitter supplied) Inappropriate response to normal intestinal bacteria is involved in the development of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD, e.g. Crohn’s Disease (CD), ulcerative colitis (UC)) and variations in the host genome may mediate this process. IL-10-/- mice develop CD-like colitis mainly in the colon, in part due to inappropriate responses to normal intestinal bacteria including Enterococcus strains. Comprehensive characterization of changes in gene expression associated with the observed inflammation in the IL-10-/- mouse model has yet to be reported. more...

Mucosal gene expression profiling in (un)inflamed colon of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC)

(Submitter supplied) In this study, we investigated if miRNA expression in UC mucosa is altered and correlated our findings with mucosal mRNA expression. Integration of mRNA and miRNA expression profiling may allow the identification of functional links between dysregulated miRNAs and their predicted target mRNA.

Expression data from intestinal mucosa of patients with UC

(Submitter supplied) Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the colon with preiods of active disease followed by remission. We performed a whole-genome transcriptional analysis of colonic biopsies from patients with histologically active and inactive UC, as well as non-inflammatory controls.

Expression data from mouse colon tissue response to DSS induction at day 0, 2, 4 and 6

(Submitter supplied) Temporal genome profiling of DSS colitis The DSS induced mouse colitis model is often used to emulate Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in order understand pathophysiological mechanism of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Given the progressive nature of IBD, colon tissue gene expression changes during the evolution of disease, and knowing the changes in gene expression profiles could indentify potential diagnostic markers or additional therapeutic targets for colitis. more...

Gene expression profiles of pediatric IBD remission patients

(Submitter supplied) Clinical remission is apparent when laboratory markers of inflammation are normal and clinical symptoms are absent. However, sub-clinical inflammation can still be present. A detailed analysis of the immune status during this inactive state of disease may provide a useful tool to subcategorize patients with subclinical immune activation We performed (un)supervised clustering analysis of IBD-associated genes and applied Ingenuity® pathway software to identify specific molecular profiles between patients.
