Splicing factor SRSF1 promotes breast cancer progression via regulating alternative splicing

(Submitter supplied) Purpose:Intensive evidence have highlighted the effect of aberrant alternative splicing (AS) events triggered by dysregulation of SR protein family on cancer progression. Nonetheless, the underlying mechanism in breast cancer (BRCA) remains elusive. Here we sought to explore the molecular function of SRSF1 and identify the key AS events regulated by SRSF1 in BRCA. Methods:We conducted comprehensive analysis for the expression and the clinical correlation of SRSF1 in BRCA based on TCGA, Metabric database, clinical tissue samples and BRCA cell lines. more...

Transcriptomic profiling of bone marrow cells from healthy individuals

(Submitter supplied) We performed whole-genome transcriptomic profiling of RNA from mononuclear cells from bone marrow aspirates taken from healthy individuals. This study complements GSE58335: transcriptomic profiling of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from healthy individuals.

Increased intron retention is a post-transcriptional signature associated with progressive ageing and Alzheimer’s disease

(Submitter supplied) Intron retention (IR) may affect gene expression and protein functions during development and age-onset diseases. However, it remains unclear if IR undergoes spatial or temporal changes during different stages of ageing or neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease (AD). By profiling mRNA species across different ages of Drosophila heads, we observed significant increase in the level of IR of many conserved genes as animals aged. more...

Genome wide DNA methylation profiling of normal breast, normal adjacent and breast cancer tissue

(Submitter supplied) The Illumina Infinium 450k Human DNA methylation Beadchip was used to obtain DNA methylation profiles across approximately 480,000 CpGs in a total of 407 samples, including 50 normal samples from healthy women, 42 matched normal-adjacent breast cancer pairs (84 samples), 263 unmatched breast cancers, 7 normal samples from BRCA1 carriers and 4 BRCA1 breast cancers. ***WARNING: incomplete metadata supplied for this study***

Gene expression analysis after selective expression of tissue factor isoforms

(Submitter supplied) Analysis of TF isoform-induced breast cancer cell transformation at gene expression level. The hypothesis tested in the present study was that expression of TF isoforms upregulate genes involved in proliferation and transformation, while downregulating genes involved in cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Results provide important information on the cellular response to TF expression with respect to pro-oncogenic programs .
