4-nonylphenol effect on liver

Analysis of FVB/NJ liver treated with 45 mg/kg/day 4-nonylphenol (4-NP) for 32 weeks. 4-NP is an industrial waste and elicits estrogen-like responses. Results provide insight into molecular events altered by 4-NP.

Alterations in gene expression in FVB/NJ mouse liver following 4-nonylphenol (4-NP) treatment for 32 weeks

(Submitter supplied) Alterations in gene expression in FVB/NJ mouse liver following 4-nonylphenol (4-NP) treatment for 32 weeks. Mice were treated with 45 mg/kg/day 4-NP for 32 weeks, livers excised and differential gene expression determined. Samples 1 and 2 are controls and samples 3 and 4 are mice treated with 4-NP. Arrays were visualized from the K-screen, and analyzed and quantified with a phosphoimager (Molecular Imager FX, Bio-Rad, Hercules, CA) and the ResGen PathwaysTM Universal Microarray Analysis SoftwareTM (Research Genetics, Carlsbad, CA). more...

SYSTEMS ANALYSIS OF THE LIVER TRANSCRIPTOME IN ADULT MALE ZEBRAFISH EXPOSED TO THE NON-IONIC SURFACTANT NONYLPHENOL (NP).

(Submitter supplied) We report the effects of exposure to the endocrine disruptor nonylphenol (NP) on transcriptome modification in the livers of in vivo Zebrafish. Our data indicate changes in fatty acid metabolism and inflammation, pathways associated with the development of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).

The steroid hormone estriol (E3) regulates epigenetic programming of fetal mouse brain and reproductive tract [methylation]

(Submitter supplied) We identify an unexpected functional role for E3 in fetal reproductive system and brain. We further identify a novel mechanism of estrogen action, through recruitment of epigenetic modifiers to estrogen receptors and their target genes, which doesn’t correlated with the traditional view of estrogen potency.”

Transcriptomic Analysis of Nonylphenol Effect on Saccharomyces cerevisiae

(Submitter supplied) Nonylphenol (NP), is a bioaccumulative environmental estrogen that is widely used as a nonionic surfactant. We have previously examined short-term effects of NP on yeast cells using microarray technology. In the present study, we investigated the long-term impacts of NP on Saccharomyces cerevisiae BY4742 cells by analyzing genome-wide transcriptional profiles using RNA-sequencing. We used 2 mg/L NP concentration exposure for 40 days. more...
