Title Methylome analysis by reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS) from adipose tissue samples of piglets from a swine model of maternal overfeeding and/or restriction
Organism Sus scrofa
Experiment type Methylation profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary Maternal overfeeding and/or restriction may have effect on the metabolic and epigenetic programming of offspring's adipose tissue. The study tested the potential of postnatal metformin teatment to reverse these changes using a swine animal model.

Overall design We designed a swine model using pregnant sows distributed in 3 groups of diet intervention (control, overfed and restricted) through pregnancy. At birth, piglets underwent standard lactation without maternal diet intervention. Within each maternal group, piglets were rambdomly assigned to two different tratment interventions: metformin or vehicle. All piglets were sacrified at weaning and visceral adipose tissue samples were collected.
