Summary We report on how the absence of expansion segment 7S from the yeast ribosome alters A-site occupancy along transcripts. This has consequence for local translation rates and protein fidelity.
 
Overall design Examination of total and ribosome protected mRNA in wild-type and ΔES7S yeast yJD1045 strain depleted of genomic rDNA. rRNA is exclusively plasmid borne.
