Summary Neurobiological causes of suicide are largely unknown. Volumes and dysfunction of brain regions amygdala, hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and thalamus were reported to play a role in suicidal intention.
 
Overall design Expression profiles were generated from amygdala, hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and thalamus from nine suicide completers and six control individuals.
