RNAs were extracted from the parietal cortex of 168 samples using the RNeasy Mini kit (Qiagen, Valencia, CA). The concentration and A260/A280 ratio were measured on the NanoDrop spectrophotometer. The 28S:18S rRNA ratio and RNA Integrity Number (RIN) were measured using an RNA LabChip kit on the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies, Santa Clara, CA). Only RNA samples with a RIN >7 were used for the expression profiling.
