Definition

Lassa fever (LF) is a potentially severe viral hemorrhagic disease caused by Lassa virus and characterized by initial fever and malaise followed by gastrointestinal symptoms and, in severe cases, bleeding, shock and multi-organ system failure. [from ORDO]
