show Abstracthide AbstractWe examined the transcriptomes of antennal and thoracic tissue from two closely related Chloridea (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae:Heliothinae) species. Chloridea virescens is a broad generalist pest of economic importance, while Chloridea subflexa is a narrow specialist on plants in the genus Physalis. To identify genes that are expressed in male and/or female antennae from one or both species but not in non-sensory tissues, we sequenced male and female antennae from each species, and from combined male+female thoracic tissue from each species.
