RNA |
|
|
Source name |
serum
|
Organism |
Homo sapiens |
Characteristics |
samples of different individuals pooled?: yes age: 65, 55, 66 gender: all female als mutation: all C9ORF72 hexanucleotide expansion
|
Treatment protocol |
Serum samples were processed within 1 h after blood drawing and stored at -80° C until further usage.
|
Extracted molecule |
total RNA |
Extraction protocol |
Total RNA from 8-10 ml of serum were extracted using the QIAzol lysis reagent (Qiagen) according to the manufacturer's instructions. The aqueous phase was collected and total RNA precipitated by addition of 1.4 volumes of isopropanol and overnight incubation at -20°C. Precipitated RNA was redissolved in water and purified a second time using the miRNeasy Mini Kit (Qiagen) according to the manufacturer's instructions.
