Twenty of 6, 7, 8 DAP endosperms of B73 were pooled for extracting total RNA with an RNAprep Pure Plant Kit (cat. no. DP441, TIANGEN) RNA libraries for RNA-seq were prepared using SMARTER mRNA-Seq Library Prep Kit following manufacturer's protocols.

Data processing |
Trimmomatic (version 0.39) was used to trim the sequence reads and STAR was used to align them to the B73 v4 reference genome. We computed gene expression levels for uniquely mapped reads by Using featureCounts (version 2.0.1). Supplementary files format and content: Zea mays ssp mays B73 v4 Supplementary files format and content: Matrix table with raw counts for every sample (column) and gene (rows)
